Visit the Island of Rangiroa in French Polynesia
Most people dream of visiting French Polynesia, but most don't know much about Rangiroa, the hidden gem of Tahiti. It is home to some of the world's best diving sites and some of the most fantastic Tahitian Pearl Farms are located here.
For visitors, the seclusion and serenity of Rangiroa brings an infinite world of sites and colors to your senses. If you are a diver, world-class diving awaits you. To "shoot the pass" is to experience what many have called "the world's greatest adrenaline rush". Divers, snorkelers, and even those aboard a glass-bottomed boat are carried in a rush of water between the ocean and lagoon surrounded by seemingly millions of fish. Outside the reef is a breathtaking array of large species along the walls of the drop-offs, including eagle rays and schools of sharks and tuna.
If you like to snorkel, Rangiroa's lagoon carries an astounding assortment of marine life, which makes it a prime spot. L'lle aux Recifs Beach, Papiro Point and the Mahuta area are all known for their superb snorkeling. However, you don't have to go anywhere in particular to snorkel on the atoll of Rangiroa. Just grab your gear, walk out the front door of your hotel and jump in!
If you do want to venture away from your resort, you can enjoy a day excursion to Rangiroa's nearby islets, explore the lagoons, visit the Blue lagoon, the bird sanctuary, or watch the dolphins frolicking at Tiputa Pass.
Some of the most beautiful Tahitian pearls are produced in the lagoon of Rangiroa. On the island you can visit one of the largest pearl farms of French Polynesia. When visiting a pearl farm, guests have the opportunity to witness how the pearls are grafted and harvested, learning all the secrets of the cultivation of this mysterious gem of the sea.
Rangiroa boasts such an abundance of white sand that the atoll can be described as one big beach. Rangiroa does have its share of officially-designated beach areas. Blue Lagoon Motu is perhaps the most popular of the beaches. Tiputa Point has a beautiful vista point that doubles as a picnic area, while L'lle Aux Recifs is noted for its fossilized coral formations.
Hotel Kia Ora is on the northeast side of Rangiroa and overlooks the turquoise water of the atoll's legendary lagoon. It is situated on a stretch of white-sand beach. Hotel Kia Ora defines French Polynesian luxury with well-manicured gardens and lavishly appointed bungalows. Remote and romantic, this is an ideal resort for honeymooners and couples. Scuba divers and snorkelers will enjoy exploring an incredible array of marine life under the turquoise-blue waters.
The Hotel Kia Ora features amenities for all types of travelers. Guests can unwind and enjoy the surroundings with a Tahitian specialty drink at the bar, dine on fresh local seafood at the on-site restaurant, go for a bicycle ride, or take a dolphin watching excursion. A Polynesian dance show with local musicians entertains guests in the evenings.
This is an all bungalow resort and guests can book rooms such as their Garden Suite Bungalow, which is just a short walk away from the beach, an Overwater Bungalow with direct access to the lagoon from your privatete deck or a Beach Deluxe Bungalow with Pool. This one bedroom suite features a separate lounge, terrace and private pool. Whichever bungalow you choose, you will receive wonderful room amenities including air conditioning, ceiling fan, coffee/tea maker, complimentary toiletries, housekeeping, patio and large windows that open to allow the fresh Tahitian breeze to enter your room and envelop you.
