AmaWaterways Offers River Cruises Onboard The Zambezi Queen

Supplier Spotlight

A hot new destination for AmaWaterways is their African land/cruise adventure. They offer several different options, each one includes a river cruise onboard The Zambezi Queen. This is a perfect way to experience the beauty of Africa on land and water.

The Zambezi Queen operates on the Chobe River, situated between Botswana and Namibia. The boat is based on the banks of the Caprivi Strip and is only a few kilometers away from the place where four countries meet, namely Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana. The Zambezi Queen cruises on the banks of the Chobe National Park with its teeming wildlife and approximately 120,000 elephants and over 400 species of birds. The boat is also 70 km by road from Victoria Falls, one of the great wonders of the world.

There can be few natural wonders as synonymous with Africa's raw wilderness at the great Chobe River. These waters divide Namibia's Caprivi Strip from Botswana's Chobe National Park, and its exotic banks boast one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent. Teeming with life, this national park sprawls across 11,000m of lush African bush, and is home to the largest population of elephants in the world, currently estimated at roughly 120,000. Roaming around are also elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, roan, eland, sable, waterbuck and giraffe. If you are lucky, one of the rare puki can also be seen. In the river itself, watch out for crocodile and hippo. Always keep your binoculars at the ready for spotting a rich selection of bird life.

The Zambezi Queen allows travelers the opportunity of seeing the animals without the crowns typical on land-based game drives. You can experience the same thrill all from your own private suite onboard a luxury boat. The Zambezi Queen operates in 5-star opulence and is all about pampering and indulgence while traveling in superior comfort.

The 1st and 2nd levels of the boat incorporate 14 cabins, all of which have their own private balconies and have been tastefully furnished with either a double or two single beds. Four are Master Suites, some with their own private outdoor areas. The Master Suites are larger than the 10 Standard Suites. Because of the limitations regarding power, none of the suites have air conditioning; however each private space has been designed with the African summer in mind. Shutters are situated on the outer edge of the deck and fans ensure a cool experience even during times of the year when external temperatures are very high. Uniquely, the entire boat has mosquito screening.

The top deck is air conditioned and consists of the lounge, bar, dining room, and a sunbathing area complete with a private pool. The restaurant is located on the 3rd level and guests will dine in absolute opulence with unobstructed views on three sides. The bar contains both imported and local wine, beer and spirits.

Included on your cruise are water based game viewing on smaller boats, tiger and bream fishing in season, bird watching from smaller boats, land based half day 4x4 game viewing in Botswana's Chobe National Park and a land based cultural tour of a local village. The use of a helicopter for aerial game viewing is available at an additional charge.

Our office has sold many, many AmaWaterways cruises over the years. Our clients are always pleased and most become repeat guests. They are currently offering many specials on their river cruises throughout the world including Europe and Southeast Asia.
