Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort in Costa Rica
Expert Review
My recent trip to Costa Rica was the dream vacation of a lifetime. It was perfect in every way. With the perfect blend of nature, adventure and relaxation, the Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort is the place to stay in the Arenal Volcano area of Costa Rica.
Tabacon Grand Spa offers the unique combination of the energy of the active Arenal Volcano, the heat of the Tabacon Hot Springs and the purity and mystic of the surrounding rainforest. I would describe it as paradise or the eighth wonder of the world. The four elements of nature are present at this unique luxury hotel and resort, featuring the flowing waters of the hot springs, the heat of the volcano, the fertile earth of the Fortuna de San Carlos Region and the pure air of the rainforest.
This 102 guest room is located at the base of the Arenal Volcano. It is a five star luxury resort and is recognized as a member of The Leading Hotels and The Leading Spas of the World. It is a Signature preferred hotel and on Classic Vacations list of wonderful properties. It has also received accolades from Conde Nast Traveler and SpaFinder Magazine. With one visit here, you will totally understand why everyone raves about it.
There are three thermal springs that flow on the property. Each offers a different type of experience. I tried to pick a favorite, but out of the three I loved them equally. Tabacon was the first Hot Springs resort to open to the public in the Arenal Volcano Region. It is still the top rated and most publicized luxury Hot Springs and Spa resort in Costa Rica.
Since we booked with Classic Vacations, we were offered a great deal with lots of value. The package included a 3rd night free, tropical welcome drinks, delicious daily buffet breakfast, 1 Temazcal treatment per person, a $75 spa credit and unlimited access to the unique Thermal Mineral Springs Resort.
One of my favorite moments was when we arranged for a romantic dinner to be served in a private bungalow set in the middle of the rainforest. The table and surrounding area were adorned with rose petals and candles. A private chef prepared a gourmet four course dinner for us that was absolutely delicious. They use local ingredients and all the dishes are regionally themed. I will cherish the memories of that night forever!
On property, there are a total of 12 hot springs pools and lagoons, a full service spa, a fitness center, two restaurants and two bars. We tried all of the lagoons and pools while we were there. The fitness center comes equipped with cardio training equipment, free weights and resistance equipment. It was a pleasure working out there each day.
A few times we went off property for meals, but the majority was at the resort's two on property restaurants. I enjoyed each meal as they were all fresh and inventive. I was able to try a few new dishes that I loved. I will be looking for a Costa Rican restaurant in my neighborhood.
All in all, this was a wonderful 8 day vacation in paradise. I would go back in a minute and would definitely recommend to my friends and clients. I owe a huge thank you to Classic Vacations who helped me put this amazing journey together.
