A Little About Holland America Cruises
Marking its 130th anniversary in 2003, Holland America leads the cruise industry premium
niche by offering virtually unlimited cruise and Cruise Tour options that span the globe and
satisfy every traveler's appetite for exploration. Over the course of the company's
rich history as first a shipping and passenger line and subsequently a cruise line, Holland
America's fleet has carried nearly 10 million passengers to new lives in the New World or to
exotic locales for vacations of a lifetime.
With 12 luxury ships sailing to more than 280 ports of call and all seven continents, and
more ships and tours being added each year, Holland America's commitment to providing the best
in cruise vacations is confirmed by awards and accolades from leaders in the tourism industry.
In 2002 Holland America Line was the highest rated premium cruise line in the "World's Best"
award from Travel & Leisure Magazine and the Condé Nast Traveler Readers'
Choice Awards and received "Best Cruise Line" honors for the second year in a row from
Recommend Magazine readers. The company has received the "World's Best Cruise
Value" award from the World Ocean & Cruise Liner Society for the last 11 years, consistently
singled out for recognition over all other cruise lines.
The society's Ocean & Cruise News also awarded "Ship of the Year" honors to the ms
Amsterdam (2002), ms Rotterdam (1999 and 2000), ms Veendam (1998), the ms

For 2003, Holland America Line offers seven-, 10- and 14-day cruises to the Caribbean from
Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, and Tampa; 10- to 24-day Panama Canal cruises; special Christmas
and New Year's cruises; extended cruises to South America; European cruises; Asia/Pacific
itineraries; cruises from New York to Eastern Canada/New England and cruises to Hawaii and Mexico
from San Diego. The ms Amsterdam also will sail on a 108-day Grand World Voyage in
2003.
Eight ships will offer a record 144 seven-day cruises to Alaska in 2003, sailing from Seattle,
Vancouver, B.C., San Francisco, California and Seward, Alaska, to the Inside Passage and on the
Gulf of Alaska Glacier Route from May to September.
